Best cafes: Le Flore en l'Ile, Paris

I once lamented the absence of a decent breakfast in Paris - bar the fabulous boulangeries, I said, there are very few places offering a cracking brunch.

Readers, I was wrong.

Paris is all about pastries, sod the clever egg shenanigans and Antipodean coffees (well, for one weekend anyway). So, on a recent visit, I embraced the croissant, the tea and a view of the Seine from the delightful Le Flore en l'Ile on Ile Saint Louis. I recommend it for a flaky, decadent and quintessential slice of Paris, breakfasting with the locals.
